On 19 September 2021, Commander Gary Chan was called home to be with The Lord. While we are saddened by his passing, we remember his life and impact upon the lives of children and youths in the Royal Rangers ministry.

Commander Gary was the Senior Commander of Outpost #11 – Faith A/G. As their longest serving Senior Commander, he headed the ministry with the calmness and composure of a steadfast leader. He was always ready to help others with their leadership challenges and provided a sense of confidence to others that “God works for the good of those who love him”. Through his faithfulness in serving God, many generations of peers, young leaders, and youth and children have been inspired to follow Jesus on their own great adventure. Commander Gary was also a member of the Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship, training staff of various National training camps and the Leadership Training Academy.

Commander Gary served with humility, cheerfulness and tenacity that exemplified a true servant leader. These leadership characteristics would extend into his family, work, and various spheres of influence in his life. He led by example in the efforts to balance ministry, work, family and life. He forged genuine and lasting friendships with those he served with.

Let us remember Commander Gary for his exemplary leadership and commitment to reach, teach and keep boys & girls for our Master Ranger, Jesus Christ. His unwavering faith is a lasting legacy for the next generation of leaders to emulate. We believe that God has prepared a great reward for Commander Gary’s commitment to do his best for his family, church, outpost and fellowmen.

Please continue to keep his wife Wai Leng, his 2 sons – Joash and Josiah, and family members, in prayer and support.
